I Don’t Know Where To Start?
This is the most common comment I hear from newly engaged couples. Getting engaged is exciting, but once this settles the reality of how much there is to think about can be overwhelming. Where to start is the first challenge.
So grab a computer or your tablet and open a new document. Ideally, one you can edit wherever you go like Google Docs or Apple… That way you can add to it as ideas come to you when you are out and about – and believe me they will come to you in the strangest of moments!
Once you have this set up write the following headings:
Date:
Budget:
Timings:
Location:
Ceremony Venue:
Reception Venue:
Number for Ceremony and wedding breakfast:
Number for evening reception:
Best Man:
Page Boy:
Ushers:
Suits:
Maid of Honour:
Bridesmaids:
Flower Girl:
Dresses:
Wedding dress:
Colour scheme:
Décor and styling:
Flowers:
Rings:
Theming and naming of tables:
Food:
Favours:
Hen and Stag do:
Entertainment:
Wedding Party gifts:
Speeches:
Photographer:
Videographer:
Cake:
Gifts or money:
Honeymoon:
Accommodation:
Stationary:
Postbox/Money tree?
Now you have this list you can start writing your ideas next to each title and note down when they are confirmed. Of course, this list isn’t exclusive but these are the things you need to consider.
It’s also good to have a box/folder/Pinterest board when you can splurge all of your creative ideas, but I’ll talk about that more later.
If all of this is seeming a bit overwhelming, consider having a Wedding Planner. They don’t have to cost the earth and can really help you get things done. Once you start the list will grow (maybe you want a sweet cart, games on the lawn etc) and having someone there to guide you will be a huge relief.
